This volume on Christian-Hindu Dialogue outlines the basic parameters of a dialogue that arise out of the study of Indian texts and the enormous possibilities of prayer and study together in order to face the challenges of diversity through pilgrimage, meditation and a common journey of non-duality. To dialogue is to become the other, and therefore to be in dialogue with Hinduism is for the author to be a Hindu and a Christian, to learn everyday from each other’s tradition and to follow the example of sadhus and monks finding meaning in each other’s journeys. Chapters studies of the Mānava-Dharmásāstra and the Yajñavalkya Dharmaśastra, non-dual consciousness, the possibilities of tri-belonging, the challenges of matter, the experience of the kālighāt, and the example of Raimon Panikkar as a Hindu and a Christian. About the Author Mario I. Aguilar is Professor of Religion and Politics and Director of the Centre for the Study of Religion and Politics (CSRP) at the University of St. Andrews, Scotland where he has been teaching and researching for the past 26 years after completing his Ph.D. at the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS, London). He is a hermit in the Benedictine Camaldolese tradition and lives at Arunachala Hermitage in Scotland following a Vedic Indian life of silence and study. He is the president of the International Committee for Interreligious Dialogue, the founder of the Milarepa Foundation for Dialogue with Asia and a biographer of Pope Francis. His latest books include an Indian trilogy related to contemplation and dialogue in Christianity and Hinduism: Christian Ashrams, Hindu Caves and Sacred Rivers (2016), The Way of the Hermit (2017), and Interreligious Dialogue and the Partition of India (2018).
